We are editing a book on Health Communication in the African context with a proposed title “Health and disease in Africa, beliefs, traditions and stigma”. The book will among others, examine how different social groups and communities in Africa relate with health and disease.

Suggested themes include the following:

Health beliefs (Western and Traditional)
Community development approaches to health
Mental Health
Reproductive Health
Representations of communicable and non-communicable diseases
Social movement approaches (NGO activities, access to medicine and treatment)

We are interested in manuscripts on these and other topics, which examine the relationship between science, traditions, religion, culture, etc. to provide a broad overview of Africa’s health issues.

If you are interested, please send an abstract of 300 words and a short CV to bankolefalade@hotmail.com and mnhamo@gmail.com. Chapter manuscripts will be a maximum of 7,000 words.

Abstract submission deadline: 30 June 2019
Notification of acceptance of abstracts: 31 July 2019
Manuscript submission deadline: October 2019
