What factors influence attitudes towards science and technology among the South African population? This question has been raised by Lars Guenther and Peter Weingart. In their most recent publication in the South African Journal of Science they found an answer: Interestingly, for the South African population, higher levels of scientific literacy and use of information sources are associated with seeing both more promises but also more reservations towards science and technology. This is especially true for relatively young and educated South Africans.
